The 74th Venice International Film Festival has just opened its door and we are pleased to find several directors that were discovered by La Semaine de la Critique:
- In official selection where Sebastiano Riso, selected in competition at La Semaine de la Critique on 2014 with PIÙ BUIO DI MEZZANOTTE (DARKER THAN MIDNIGHT), will unveil its second feature film UNA FAMILIA. Also in competition, THE SHAPE OF WATER, the new feature film by Guillermo del Toro, discovered in 1993 at the 32nd edition of La Semaine de la Critique with his first film CRONOS.

- In the Orrizonti (Horizons) section, there is MARVIN, by Anne Fontaine, who came in 1993 to show her first feature film LES HISTOIRES D'AMOUR FINISSENT MAL...EN GÉNÉRAL. Alongside her, Damien Manivel is also selected in competition with THE NIGHT I SWAM (OYOGISUGITA YORU), co-directed with Igarashi Kohei. Damien Manivel won at the 51st édition de La Semaine de la Critique the Discovery Prize for short film with UN DIMANCHE MATIN. And finally, Pablo Giorgelli will show INVISIBLE, his second feature film. Back in 2011, at the 50th Semaine de la Critique, he won with LAS ACACIAS the Caméra d'or.

- Out of compétition, OUR SOULS AT NIGHT, third feature film by Ritesh Batra, who was in competition in 2013 at La Semaine de la Critique with the THE LUNCHBOX.

Without forgetting of course la Settimana Internazionale della Critica, where Natalia Garagiola will unveil TEMPORADA DE CAZA (HUNTING SEASON). She was in competition at the 51st Semaine de la Critique with her short film YEGUAS Y COTORRAS.
