The TorinoFilmLab has announced the 20 projects selected to take part in the 2019 edition of ScriptLab, an initiative which focuses on the development of fiction feature film scripts based on original ideas as well as adaptations. And we are glad to see 2 alumni from the 4th session of Next Step taking part in this year's ScriptLab :
Laura Ferrés who presented her short film LOS DESHEREDADOS and won the Leica Cine Discovery Prize for Short Film in 2017 at La Semaine de la Critique, has been selected to take part of the 2019 Scriptlab session. This is an opportunity for her to continue to work on her Next Step project : THE PERMAMENT PICTURE, that she developped during the 4th Next Step Session in 2017. The project is a portrait of Carmen, a dedicated advertising casting director who is forced to fire the niece she cast in a commercial.
Moin Hussain, who also presented his short film REAL GODS REQUIRE BLOOD in 2017 at La Semaine de la Critique and was a part of the 4th Next Step Session has been selected as well by the TorinoFilmLab for his project BIRCHANGER GREEN.
The ScriptLab program is structured into 3 week-long workshop residencies (In March, June and November) and 2 online sessions. The 20 participants are selected to work in 5 groups, each guided by a tutor with a international experience as as script consultant.
The conclusion of ScriptLab happens in November, when all the participants will pitch their projects to an assembly of film professionals such as producers or international sales agents.
