September 1939. Among many others, three men are mobilized : Paul Nizan, a writer ; Roger Beuchot, a sign-painter ; Maurice Jaubert, a musician. During the six months of the « phony war », they will write to their wives regularly. Le temps détruit tells the daily lives of these three men as they are told in the love letters they indefatigably send to their wives before they are killed in the spring of 1940.
