About The Manila Lover

The Manila Lover could have just aimed at foiling the expected turns of its story, the stereotypes ignited in the mind of the audience by its opening. On the contrary, the film embraces the pain of its character with an artful sens of pathos. Inside the anonymity of globalised resorts, the film vividly shows the experience of a man, his disappointments and his double deterritorialization; away from home, in a land of plenty, one he’s chosen, he is yet again denied love, an uncharted territory.
