About Duo Li (Lili Alone)

Lili prays, staring at the heavens. Later, we will leave her on a boat, at night, still looking up. We wander what she is looking at. Duo Li is a portrait, a journey, a film about Lili’s journey to the city to find money and a way to make ends meet, a journey that makes her look elsewhere, in order to flee this life. A subtle X-ray of contemporary China, Zou Jing's first film is also an utterly tender film, an odd blend of gentle violence and ethereal seclusion.
