Previous short films by Caroline Poggi and Jonathan Vinel (As Long As Shotguns Remain, Our Legacy) outline intriguingly bare and hyper-realist urban landscapes inhabited by (supposedly) evanescent youngsters. But there is a heart throbbing inside, with its very unique pace, alternately dissonant and warlike, icily romantic and bluntly honest. After School Knife Fight is all that, describing the separation of a bunch of apprentices, rock'n'roll fans, whose desires are brightened out by a sense of decency, text messages and guitar riffs.
