Cinema is at the core of the cultural policy of the Île-de-France Region, and so is fostering young artists. Our support and funding schemes help many projects carried out by screenwriters, directors and producers, who are often unknown, but who we believe in and whose potential we wish to see fulfilled.
That is why we are happy to, once again, support La Semaine de la Critique who promotes young talented filmmakers. We thank Charles Tesson, its artistic director, and the members of the selections committees who reveal and defend filmmakers from around the world.
We take great pride in seeing the young directors we support accept their own awards, like Emmanuel Gras in 2017 with Makala or Jérémy Clapin with I Lost My Body in 2019.
We share the same desire to have young audiences discover the emotions films have in store. The screenings and workshops organised by la Semaine de la Critique in schools promote arts education to which the Île-de-France Region is firmly committed.
Even if the health crisis won’t be quite behind us this summer, we express our wishes to see this edition of La Semaine de la Critique take place under the best possible conditions. More than ever, the Region stands by film and TV professionals and strives for culture to reclaim its place in our lives.
We wish you all a wonderful Semaine de la Critique!
