Région Ile-de-France - France’s leading region in supporting films

Fostering cinema and young artists lies at the very heart of the Région Ile-de-France cultural commitment. Through our support schemes, we foster many projects led by yet unknown filmmakers, in whom we believe and wish to see thrive. 

That is why we are thrilled to renew our support to La Semaine de la Critique, who champions first and second feature films, paying particular attention to equal gender representation. We are proud to see the young talented artists we support receive their awards, such as Iris Iris Kaltenbäck, who won the 2023 SACD Award for her film The Rapture. 

We also commend La Semaine for its efforts to bring these works to young audiences. Screenings and workshops organised in schools around Ile-de-France are part of our bold cultural outreach policy. Indeed, in today’s overwhelming flow of images, insights into the meaning and impact of films should help youths think for themselves.

We thank Ava Cahen - the Artistic Director of La Semaine de la Critique - and the members of the French Union of Film Critics for making us discover films we didn’t expect, works that tell us about life.
