K. Rajagopal

K. Rajagopal has worked on stage and in film for over fifteen years. He has collaborated with many notable theatre directors on projects such as Medea, Mother Courage and Private Parts. After an 11-year hiatus, he appeared in the role of King Lear in The King Lear Project at the Kunsten Festival des Arts (Brussels) and the Singapore Arts Festival in 2008. As a filmmaker, Rajagopal has won the Singapore International Film Festival’s Special Jury Prize for 3 consecutive years with I Can’t Sleep Tonight (1995), The Glare (1996) and Absence (1997). His other films are Brother, commissioned by the Singapore Art Festival, The New World, commissioned by the National Museum of Singapore, and Timeless. He also directed a segment of Lucky 7, an exquisite corpse feature film by 7 prominent Singaporean directors. A Yellow Bird is his first feature film.
