Deserving Love

This year in May, Hafsia Herzi will enrapture us with her gaze all over Cannes, and we will stare up at her every time we set foot in La Semaine de la Critique’s cinema. The history we share with La Semaine is one of comfortable trust and ever-increasingly thrilling promises. Discovering a first or a second film is being ushered into a fortress whose latitude and genealogy is yet unknown. We infiltrate the premises and wait for them to tell their own, distinctive, story. We welcome their territory, their ideal, and their love. The fortresses discovered by La Semaine fearlessly withstood the slings and arrows of time. The 2019 Semaine de la Critique gem “You Deserve a Lover”, will secretly echo in this year’s young directors’ ears. As the Vice-President of the SACD Film Department, I am thrilled that SACD renews its vibrant commitment to La Semaine once again this year.
