Schächer is as composed as a late tragedy, like an outcome that has been a long time coming, that we were almost waiting for on our front porch but for which we can never be ready; the unshakeable peacefulness of long cogitations, that of a signature at the bottom of a will. Schächer doesn’t shy away from lyricism nor routine, as it blends the two into a heart-breaking dirge and reveals the end of a world in a few striking tableaux.
